Even though Hermione suggested the possibility of Mindy being one of Ron's friends, there's a part of her that grows slightly suspicious when Mindy easily goes along with the tale. She seems like a perfectly lovely woman, but Hermione knows that most of Ron's friends have been made at work, and Mindy doesn't strike Hermione as being employed by the police.

She's been wrong before, though.

"I have the rest of my life to be joined at the hip to him," Hermione points out with a grin. "I think he can stand to wait a little while longer. I'm more interested in learning about yourself, Mindy. Are you a Darrow native, or did you move here from somewhere else?"
