With her brow briefly furrowed in concentration, a wave of the wand helps Hermione Conjure the tea set, which appears in front of them as though out of thin air. She tends to keep more cumbersome items in the back storage room, remembering the exact location of each to help her Conjure them at a moment's notice. But the tea is easier kept in the front area, if only because there are so many variations that it's hard to remember exactly what lives where.
"Do you have a preference between white, black, green, or herbal? I have a pretty wide array of teas," Hermione says, opening the cupboard with another wave of her wand, "so if you name your favorite, I probably have something similar. And please, don't hesitate to ask questions about my magic. I'm always very happy to share. There is certainly magic that can be done without the use of a wand, both nonverbal and with the use of potions, but among witches and wizards of my sort, the wand is used more often than not. Mostly because the wand helps us to hone our magic and be more precise about its application. Any one of us would be able to perform some magic without, but the wand is a tool — think of it as being like a pen, or any other tool a non-magical person would also use."
